I was extremely pleased when J Walsh Construction took on the total overhaul of my 1910 Mission Hills Historic home as I could see from Jon Walsh and his team’s previous work that they understood and respected the classic Craftsman ideal. Ultimately, I am also tremendously grateful for Jon’s sense of design and fantastic communication skills. Over the course of the project, Jon took the time to educate me about each stage of the remodel and brought many vital suggestions and solutions to problems that arose—always presenting multiple options and giving me the time to make an informed decision.
This project expanded our 2 bedroom 1 bath, single story home with a tiny early-1900’s kitchen into a 3 bedroom 2 . bath with playroom and entertaining dining/kitchen. We doubled our livable space, performed a complete interior remodel and replaced all plumbing, wiring and mechanical infrastructure. The end product is a truly gorgeous home that stayed faithful to the original home’s sensibility and simple beauty but also suits our modern family’s lifestyle. Our “new” old home is everything we had hoped for—the historic status preserved, the new design in harmony with the original home, the added space accommodating room for kids and dinner parties, and the craftsmanship and detail of the highest quality.
