Mastering the Terrain – A Vision Realized.

J Walsh Construction solved the challenge of an “unbuildable” 45-degree sloped lot by constructing a 6,000-square-foot contemporary estate carved directly into the Point Loma hillside. This massive structural undertaking required cutting and shoring the slope nearly 30 feet deep in order to build a foundation system of complex retaining walls and dramatic concrete cantilevers. 

The result is a feat of modern engineering that utilizes 13-foot floor-to-ceiling glass which frames panoramic views of San Diego Harbor, the Downtown skyline, Coronado Island and the horizon beyond. This project stands as a testament to JWC’s ability to marry architectural significance with intense construction complexity, resulting in a one-of-a-kind dwelling that is as much a technical triumph as it is an architectural icon.
